A young 21-year old goaltender tragically passes away in referees arms at hockey game
DekHockey fans have suffered a loss, as in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, the league lost a 21-year-old goalie as he collapsed and died during a game.
There was a sad story shared on social media, of which Marc Normandin from HabsolumentFan gave us the details of the tragedy.
Dekhockey goalie, Zachary Bourassa collapsed and died during a game during a ball hockey tournament this weekend.
Zachary would be a well-known, popular goaltender who was dedicated to his game, and during the finals of the tournament would the unthinkable occur. Known for his vibrant spirit, he would eventually collapse during the game, as the event went from infectious fun to horror.
It was reported that attempts to resuscitate were performed, and chest compressions would happen continuously performed by a nurse, with a respiratory therapist attending.
Despite the nurse's courageous efforts to save Zachary's life their determined efforts weren't enough.
it was an unexpected incident, and the day prior Zachary had just turned 21, and those who spoke with him earlier knew nothing wrong with his health. According to one witness, they were shocked as there were no indicators that this would happen.
The unexpected death of Zachary Bourassa has left the family, friends, and Trois-Rivieres Dekhockey shocked and heartbroken with his untimely passing. He was remembered for his love of the game, bright personality, and kind heart.
