The NHL season has been on hold for awhile now and it's definitely a benefit for some guys who have been injured and can heal up with no pressure to be rushed back. The Chicago Blackhawks received a couple of major injury blows this season which included Brent Seabrook, Calvin de Haan and Andrew Shaw. All three were expected to be a heavy veteran presence on the team this year and contribute, however now it's no guarantee that two of them ever play hockey again. We already know Seabrook has a really big uphill battle to be ready to play hockey again and it seems that Shaw is in the same boat. For Seabrook it's a question of the hard rehabilitation ahead of him, for Shaw it's his mental health and the consideration of life after hockey. Shaw missed the majority of the season while in the concussion protocol and it's just another in what seems like a yearly thing lately for the fiesty Hawks' forward. With two years left on his contract it's very likely that Shaw is placed on long term injured reserve so he can just enjoy life with his young family instead of worrying about damaging his health going forward. Montreal Canadiens head coach Claude Julien pretty much summed up during the season when asked about Shaw.«He was a really good player for us,» Canadiens coach Claude Julien said. «He brought an element of his game that this team needed. Unfortunately, when you look at his size and you look at the way he played and how he played, those concussions ended up catching up to him there a little bit. I'm sad that he's shut down for the year, but I'm glad that they're doing the right thing. We always say that concussions are such a dangerous part of sports that we have to do the right things. There's life after hockey and that has to become more important." Do you think Shaw's time in the NHL is done?
