"For the second year in a row the Chicago Blackhawks had the opportunity to select a player who could really help the team down the line. Last year at #8 overall the Hawks chose defenseman Adam Boqvist. There was lots of chatter whether they would go with a forward or defenseman this year with the #3 overall pick and lots of speculation they would take Illonois native Alex Turcotte who grew up a Blackhawks fan. When all was said and done, Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman walked up to the podium along with his scouting crew and they announced that they selected from the WHL, Kirby Dach. It's a pick that not many expected but from all accounts this is a huge boost to the Hawks' prospect system. More to come.
