The Chicago Blackhawks organization will not have as much salary cap flexibility as they would have liked.

That is because during November 2023 Corey Perry was a member of the Blackhawks organization during that time period.

He would engage in indecent behavior and cause issues with some of the Blackhawks staff in Columbus.

This would cause a ripple effect in his career, as his contract with the Blackhawks was terminated.

Perry would, of course, seek help through rehab and later find help with the NHLPA to recoup lost money.

Instead of Perry filing a grievance, the Blackhawks and Kyle Davidson settled with a financial resolution instead, resulting in a cap charge for the Perry incident.

After 11 games into his tenure with the Hawks, the 2011 Hart Trophy winner fell from grace on November 30th.

After the fallout, Perry would find his way onto a cup-contenders roster in the Edmonton Oilers and rebound shortly, but it was short-lived.

There are no words on the cap penalty for the Blackhawks regarding the November incident, but unfortunately, the check has come due.
