It sounds like Mitch Marner has decided to end his time in his hometown, Toronto. Sadly enough, the pressure may have been too much for Marner to deal with.

There's been speculation since the Boston Bruins ended the Maple Leafs season in Game 7 of the 1st round playoffs, that Marner's tenure in Toronto is at an end.

Marner has been criticized when it comes to his subpar play, during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, which may have caused Marner to re-think his approach to the off-season.

According to the NHL Network's Steve Kouleas, the tone around Mitch Marner has taken a different tune, since the end of the season:

"Maybe he thinks its time, maybe there's a place where he can go and hide if you wanna look at it that way," said Kouleas.

There's a difference between Captain John Tavares and Mitch Marner, as unlike Tavares, the winger will be likely to remove his NMC to make a move.

"It wasn't an emphatic no way," said Kouleas of Marner. "With Mitch... the buzz is not against a move, not saying no. Where this leads? I don't know but it's so exciting."

While Marner's $10.9 Million price tag may have been a bit much for some teams to swing, the former Selke Candidate will only cost $775K this season, after July 1st.

For a 95 point winger, that is a discount many teams will want to buy-in on:

After July 1st Mitch Marner is owed only 775K in salary for next season.
The 10.9 is being quoted everywhere, while this very important actual $ # is ignored. There are so many budget-conscious teams that would love to have 95 point winger in his prime who was a Selke finalist last year. at the financial cost of what a fringe 4th liner would make. There are no other players avilable with that # remaining.

With that price tag, according to the DFO's Frank Seravalli, there's a 5% chance that Mitch Marner is a Maple Leaf next year.
