It's been nearly two years since former Blackhawks goaltender Robin Lehner has played for an NHL organization and it was revealed today by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman that the league has rendered a decision between Lehner and the Golden Knights.

Several NHL pundits including Elliotte Friedman and Frank Seravalli broke the news, but the NHL in the NHLPA had reached a decision and an agreement that will allow Lehner to continue to be paid his salary while the Vegas Golden Knights will not incur any cap hit for the entire season.

This situation stemmed on the fact that Lehner failed to report for a physical with the golden Knights prior to the beginning of training camp. It was revealed by Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon on how he will not be allowed to report to the team for the remainder of the year which touched off much speculation throughout the web.

Lehner has had a turbulent last couple of years as he continues to go through several battles which includes his health after extensive surgery on his hips, ongoing gambling and other financial problems which have led him and his wife to file for bankruptcy along with other mental health trouble that he is trying to workout.

The other side of this story is that the fan base has taken to the ex platform and expressed their disgust and anger with the decision made from the NHL as many feel this franchise continues to catch breaks from league as they have used the long term injury reserve ability to shelter players thread the season for injuries and then allow them to play in the playoffs. This fan anger grew louder after they won the Stanley Cup two years ago.

Many hope that Lehner will get the help he needs as this matter is now closed and he will receive the final $5 million of his salary before becoming an unrestricted free agent next year.
