NHL Forced To Postpone Game due to Devastating Fire Spread

The NHL has had to cancel the game between the Los Angeles Kings, and Calgary Flames today due to the devastating wildfire spread on the West Coast.

Due to the Wildfire that is spreading in Los Angeles, people are having to contend with a force of nature, which is taking people's livelihoods, homes, and tragically their lives.

T​he Palisades Fire is burning at a rate of about five football fields per minute, according to CNN. Thousands have been forced to evacuate their homes as the fire grew to more than 4.6 square miles.

While the wildfires are being combatted by upwards of 700 firefighters, the Eaton fire is the main problem to solve for the citizens of Los Angeles.

The resulting fire has caused the NHL to postponed the game between the Flames, and Kings which was set to take place at Crypto.com Anrea tonight, on January 8th.

Seravalli has reported that the NHL is working closely with state officials and keeping track of the situation which has grown in size as days progress.

T​he Eaton Fire has grown to more than 16 square miles, according to an update from CalFire. The fire is still 0% contained and more than 700 firefighters are working against the blaze.

The game of hockey will have to take a seat, as people will have to band together and fight this fire which continues to ravage the West Coast of the United States.

With the postponement announced, it's hard to tell what is the next steps for the NHL and the Kings, but with hope they will work with state authorities to help contain the fire.

In the meantime, we send our thoughts to those affected by the Eaton Wildfire and hope those who have suffered can find solace in the community they find in Los Angeles.
