Detroit Red Wings lose thousands of fans following recent ticket price increase
The Detroit Red Wings have recently managed to frustrate thousands of fans within the organization by increasing ticket prices by a whopping 400%.
The move was apparently made by Detroit's front office, and with their terrible start to the NHL season (which has recently increased), it is still not acceptable for such increase.
The organization has struggled for years, going on nine years straight without making the Stanley Cup Playoffs, a terrible look for an original six franchise of the NHL.
Taking advantage of their loyal fans that have stuck through thick and thin sounds similar to the Blackhawks organization, who's limited their availability for fans to watch games. Red Wings and Blackhawks fans can agree on something?
I made a post about this over the weekend but I wasn't able to talk to a rep about the situation and get more details until today. The Red Wings have decided to transform the Labatt Blue Club section into another one of the stadium's all-inclusive clubs. Included in the prices of the tickets will be parking, food and drink. All current season ticket holders in the section will be seeing a near 400% increase in package price next season.
As of right now, there is no plan to grandfather current season ticket holders or to offer any option to opt out of the all-inclusive package. My rep straight up admitted that this is purely am only making move by the organization and they are aiming for the $200/game price point. This increase will likely push out almost every current season ticket holder in the section and the organization is offering zero apology or compensation to the loyal fans who have held tickets in the section for years. This is a disgraceful display of greed and disloyalty to the season ticket holder that have supported them through the years.
If you are a season ticket holder anywhere in the arena you need to call your rep and loudly voice your displeasure with this decision. If they are going to treat us in the LBC this way, you might be next.
Following that reporter by «Winged Media», a Red Wings outlet for news, it's truly sad to see NHL teams- especially valuable original six franchises, take advantage of their own people like this.
Perhaps it should be something taken up with the commissioner Gary Bettman, who could potentially fix the 400% ticket increase price in Detroit and fix the Blackhawks' streaming issues for fans one could hope.
