NHL makes major announcement that affects the Chicago Blackhawks
The NHL has a chance to make the Chicago Blackhawks into a dynasty once again.
They are set to start the NHL Draft Lottery on May 7th and of course, the Blackhawks are one of the teams who have a shot at winning again this year.
Of course, the odds are about the same as last year, when they won the Lotter and picked Connor Bedard, the newest face of the franchise.
The time has yet to be determined when the lottery will take place, but rest assured we're hoping for the best.
The Blackhawks have a 13.5% chance of winning again and selecting the top prospect in the draft, Macklin Celebrini.
So of course Kyle Davidson hopes that Gary Bettman and Bill Daly will make the right selection again, the Chicago Blackhawks.
Thanks to a new rule introduced during the 2021 season, teams will be able to win back-to-back draft lotteries, but no more than twice in a 5 year period.
This was instituted right after the New York Rangers won two draft lotteries in a row.
Finally, the NHL ruled that a franchise can win the lottery no more than twice in a five-year span. That isn't exclusive to the first overall pick: It means a team can't advance by reason of lottery win more than twice in a five-year span.
The Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils have been the poster franchises for this rule tweak, having each won the lottery three times since 2010.
"I don't believe there's tanking in the game. I think our players and our organizations, our coaches are too professional. But there's always speculation," Bettman said recently.
The limitation on "move up" and the limitation on benefiting from draft lottery "wins" over a five-year period is being implemented starting with the 2022 draft lottery.
