16-Year Old Colin Brown has passed away after being shot on his way home from a hockey game in St.Louis

It was a regular day for Colin Brown and his father who were on their way home from a hockey game when a tragedy struck them both.

Riding on Interstate 55 in Missouri around 10:30PM after his Christan Brothers High School game, a bullet was sent into the car which struck 16-year old Brown.

We are sad to announce that Brown succumbed to the injuries which resulted from the gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon.

Chicago Blackhawks' Pat Marron posted the following message:

Multiple NHL organizations, including the St.Louis Blues and even Chicago Blackhawks forward Pat Maroon have issued statements on the matter.

Our hearts are broken after learning of the passing of Colin Brown, a CBC and Affton Americans hockey player that was tragically shot while riding home from his game on Nov. 23. Our thoughts are with Brown's family, friends and teammates during this time.

Our organization will celebrate Colin's life with a pre-game moment on Saturday vs. Philadelphia, and proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will benefit Colin's family.
Said the Blues, in their statement posted to social media

An emotional moment was posted to social media as Colin's dad shared a photo of his sons 'walk of life'.

The person/persons who shot Brown have not been arrested, identified or found by law enforcement.

The family of Colin Brown shared the following message as seen below.

First, we would like to express our gratitude to the SLMPD and the Illinois State Police, as well as the broader public safety community, for their continued efforts in apprehending the perpetrator(s) of this senseless crime against our beloved son, Colin.

As a family and as a former law enforcement official with over 28 years of experience, we believe that greater efforts are needed in the City of St. Louis and the surrounding region to support the police and equip them with the necessary tools to combat such senseless, violent gun crimes.

Additionally, we want to thank the St. Louis and Chicago hockey communities for their overwhelming support during this difficult time. In particular, we appreciate the hockey communities of Affton, Affton Central States, CBC, O'Fallon Ice Hockey Club, the Southern Illinois Ice Hawks, the Central State Developmental Hockey League, Mid States Hockey, and MVCHA.

Please continue to pray for our son and his medical team. Fight for Brownie #72. Sincerely, The Brown Family
