Patrick Kane now thrown another curveball with his health
Patrick Kane has been a revelation on a decent, but rebuilding Detroit Red Wings team.
He has been a point-per-game player at one point of the season and one point shy of that consistency.
He has 40 points(17 G and 23 A) in 41 games with the Wings this season and has been one of Steve Yzerman's best pickups, reuniting Kane and Alex DeBrincat is nothing short of brilliant.
However, he missed a game this week against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday, as he had been battling an illness, which has been unspecified.
Kane has been placed upon the 1st line, being centered by Dylan Larkin, and Alex DeBrincat on the wing.
The odds of that happening look pretty slim. Moneypuck gives the Red Wings a 15.6% chance at making the playoffs. And while the Red Wings need some help from other teams, they might be living on hope. In terms of the remaining schedule, the Flyers have the weakest one with an average opponent point total sitting at 72.75. Detroit's remaining opponents sit at 82.3, an almost negligible edge against the 83.3 point average of Washington's remaining docket. Anybody can win in the NHL each night, and the Red Wings' chances all but hinge on some upset work.
In the last 10 games, Kane has 4 goals, 5 assists, 30 shots on goal, and 4 power-play points with a 16:73 TOI average.
The Wings need a healthy Patrick Kane to keep competing in the post-season as they want to claim a Wild Card spot.
