"The Chicago Blackhawks haven't made the playoffs for two years straight, however it's starting to really feel like a third year in a row is unacceptable. While there's been a bunch of different factors that have played into Chicago missing the playoffs, especially Corey Crawford's injury problems, general manager Stan Bowman has used the chance to give the team and prospect pool a facelift. So far this offseason Bowman has picked up defenseman Olli Maatta and seems like he's in the mix for plenty more. He's been in talks for Blue Jackets defenseman Ryan Murray and this weekend The Athletic's Scott Powers reported that Bowman has also had discussions with the Hurricanes regarding Justin Faulk, Calvin de Haan and Dougie Hamilton. After the Maatta trade, Bowman spoke to the media and confirmed he's not done making moves. From NHL.com:«Whether that's through trade or free agency, it doesn't matter too much. Right now, the trade chatter has been pretty active throughout the League. I've been in a number of conversations, and I expect that to continue over the next week.» Bowman expects to continue to be active for the next couple of weeks trying to «improve our defense and the rest of our team.»What do you think of Bowman's comments?
