The Penguins steal a fan favorite member of the Blackhawks and fans are mad
The Pittsburgh Penguins have yanked a Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster, as today they announced a signing.
The Penguins announced Joe Brand as the new radio broadcaster, for the Penguins Radio Network.
Brand will handle all Penguins' regular season and playoff games, and will be joined by two-time Stanley Cup champion and color analyst, Phil Borque.
«We are excited to welcome Joe Brand to the Penguins family and introduce him to the best fans in hockey,» said Acklin. «The Penguins have been fortunate to have some of the best voices to ever call the game sit in that chair, and we look forward to Joe making his own mark here in Pittsburgh.»
Brand had spent the last three seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks calling them on the radio for WGN 720 AM.
Brand hosted pre-game, intermission, and post-game shows for all Blackhawks regular season games and hosted "Blackhawks Live".
He also called pre-season games in Chicago and will be sorely missed at the voice of the Blackhawks on the radio.
He worked alongside Chris Chelios, and Troy Murray and filled in when John Wiederman was unavailable during regular-season play.
Not only that, but Brand called White Sox games during the regular season, on ESPN 1000 WMVP, hosting both pre and post-game for the show.
Another voice of Chicago lost.
