Former Blackhawk Duncan Keith makes surprising return to Stanley Cup Finals
After his retirement, the Edmonton Oilers named Duncan Keith as part of their player development staff in 2022.
Since then, he's been a consultant for the Oilers and undoubtedly been a key role player in the front office, in helping players like Ryan McLeod, Dylan Holloway, and Evan Bouchard perform to the best of their abilities.
Often that could be seen as offering a word of advice or helping on ice, in any way he can, as a storied defenseman in the NHL.
The three-time Stanley Cup winner offered a story to the Oilers who are down in the dump, 0-3 against the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Oilers are beaten down, and tired and if they can't deliver a Game 4 win, they could be headed home and to the golf course for the summer.
Keith stepped in and offered the best advice he could:
«A story that he shared was in Chicago, 2011. They were down 3-0, I believe, to Vancouver and made a heroic comeback. I believe they lost Game 7 in overtime, a poor unfortunate bounce. You know? You never know.
«And when you have a good team, a lot of good players who believe, things can happen. But a lot of things have to work out. You've got to get some bounces, you've got to make some plays and you need everybody contributing. And I think we can do that.»
The Edmonton Oilers must win Game 4, should they want a real shot at winning the Stanley Cup, and push the series to 7 games to stay in the hunt, literally.
