Monster NHL trade offer emerges for Celebrini before he's even drafted
In the world of NHL fandom, Canadian, or should we say Canadiens fans are already talking trades, and the name on everyone's minds? Macklin Celebrini, the projected first overall pick of this years upcoming draft that has smashed Connor Bedard's records left and right.
Alex Jodoin, a big fan, sparked a discussion on X (formerly twitter) when they suggested a possible trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks.
The proposal? Montreal gets the 1st overall pick in the 2024 draft, while San Jose gets David Reinbacher, Logan Mailloux, and the 7th overall pick. Jodoin wanted to see if fans would be okay with giving up two young defenders for Celebrini, and the majority voted YES.
But would both teams actually make this trade? For the Canadiens, adding a player like Celebrini is appealing, even if it means losing two good defensemen. However, it's uncertain if the San Jose Sharks' general manager Mike Grier would agree to give up the chance to draft Celebrini for players who haven't proven themselves at the NHL level yet.
It's a fun fairytale for Canadiens fans, but this just goes to show the hype surrounding Macklin Celebrini, who the Blackhawks have the second-highest odds of landing.
