Should the Blackhawks Keep This Forward?
Coach Luke Richardson and Kyle Davidson are great at finding bargain contracts and bringing in players like Colin Blackwell.
The Blackhawks found redemption last night by defeating the Arizona Coyotes 7-4 in the United Center.
Blackwell scored his first career hat trick against the Yotes, who shined that night on the ice. He was one of many Blackhawks who had multi-point games that night.
Jones, Bedard, and Donato did well as well.
Another player who was considered a depth piece in the league rose due to Richardson's coaching and Blackwell's competitive nature.
As valid as Blackwell's case is to return, could Kyle Davidson move him during the off-season?
Over his career, Blackwell has served as a depth player for many teams, including the New York Rangers, Nashville Predators, and Seattle Kraken.
It appears he has found a home in Chicago.
Since Blackwell has stated explicitly that he wants to live in Chicago, it might not be a bad idea to reward him for his efforts.
The current cap hit on Blackwell's contract is $1.2 Million, and it expires at the end of the season.
As a result of his return from injury, Blackwell has tallied eight goals and three assists for 11 points in the 2023-2024 NHL season.
