Sidney Crosby reportedly interested in leaving Pittsburgh to join this team
The Pittsburgh Penguins have experienced a decline in their performance for the past two seasons since their last playoff appearance.
Kyle Dubas, the current General Manager of the Penguins, has decided to re-tool the team with a new mandate.
There have been rumors circulating about Crosby leaving Pittsburgh since the Penguins are sinking, and Guentzel is likely to leave.
Crosby's name has come up in trade-talks, and the Colorado Avalanche and Toronto Maple Leafs are two of the destinations being discussed. According to sources, Crosby is willing to waive his NTC to be sent to the Maple Leafs.
If this is true, Sidney Crosby wants to get another shot at the Stanley Cup and moving to either franchise would ensure a chance at the playoffs. However, the math would have to be figured out.
It would involve a re-imagining of the Leafs as a franchise, with multiple pieces which Kyle Dubas would want in return heads to Pittsburgh.
Dubas would likely receive a nice haul from the Avalanche as well, as the trade would reach Blockbuster level.
But for now, until news develops these are just rumors.
