The Predators have locked in goalie Juuse Saros with a big eight-year deal, setting his yearly pay at $7.5 million.

This contract highlights Saros's key role and proves that he will be the #1 in Nashville, given his track record of leading the league in games played for three years in a row and consistently being among the top contenders for the Vezina Trophy over the last four years.
However, this deal seems to be pushing Yaroslav Askarov, a first-round pick, and the teams' best goaltending prospect towards leaving the team.
Askarov's agent, Dan Millstein, has reported that he is looking for a starting goalie spot:
"Askarov has the potential and should become a top goalie in the NHL. We've been exploring different options with the team. Yaroslav has shown he's ready to play in the NHL," said Millstein.

"It looks like Askarov will definitely be traded by the Preds. It might take some time, and Barry Trotz can afford to wait to get a good deal,"

The perfect opportunity for Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks to land their true #1 goaltending prospect.
