Blackhawks rookie will be sent to the AHL for Calder playoffs
The Chicago Blackhawks have decided to give another AHL player Ethan Del Mastro a look in the NHL.
Del Mastro was a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NHL draft, 105th overall.
He hasn't made his NHL debut yet but has made strides in AHL Rockford, posting 37 points(7 G, 30 A) in 66 games this season.
The Blackhawks have saw fit to give Del Mastro a look, in the last four games of the season.
Del Mastro will get a quick cup of coffee in the NHL before he will be sent down to the AHL, to bolster a playoff-ready Rockford IceHogs.
Del Mastro has been one of the Ice Hogs' best players and has been on the top-defensive pair. He has also played in all situations on ice for the team as well.
With the Blackhawks defense looking terrible lately, it seems likely with his recall his debut will be happening against the Nashville Predators.
The Hawks have nothing to lose from calling up Del Mastro and giving him a look, before sending him back to compete in the AHL.
