The Calder Cup playoffs have begun and the Rockford IceHogs took on the Grand Rapids Griffins on home ice.
The Rockford IceHogs would set the pace early, with a two-goal lead, thanks to Lukas Reichel, Michael Teply, and Zach Sanford.
Despite their best efforts, the IceHogs in the third would lose their lead as the Griffins came back to tie the game up and force overtime.
Some bright spots were Jaxson Stauber who stopped 34 of 37 shots, despite the loss.
Game two of the best of 5 series in the Calder Cup playoffs, will take place in Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
The team lacked Nolan Allen and Cole Guttman due to injuries unfortunately. Colton Dach, finished the night with three shots on goal, a tie for the team lead last night.
