A terrifying scene in the QMJHL silences the crowd

It was a scene that had fans extremely distraught, and teammates worried as QMJHL player Samuel Kupec laid motionless on the ice for 10 minutes and was stretchered off on route to hospital.

The play turned into a vicious hit from behind as Angelo Fullerton through the careless check which caused Kupec to not respond as he laid on the ice.

As he laid there for roughly 10 minutes, Kupec was stretchered off the ice and was sent to hospital immediately.

Another QMJHL player was taken off on a stretcher tonight, Samuel Kupec from the Armada.

The latest news is that he was moving his extremities, which is a good sign, but we don't know more than that. - Mikael Lalancette

The 18-year-old who plays for Blainville-Boisbriand Armada Is a defenseman who was a teammate of Montreal Canadiens star Juraj Slafkovsky as both men are from the country of Slovakia.

According to eliteprospects.com, Kupec stands at six foot 3 and 209 lbs who has spent most of his hockey career overseas with team Slovakia. This will be his first year in North America with the Quebec major junior Hockey League and through 19 games, he has four assists with 14 penalty minutes and is a + 1.

In a recent update from the Armada, Kupec is reportedly doing well and has been released from hospital.

It's safe to say that hits from behind should not be tolerated even if accidental and players need to be much more aware of the consequences of these kinds of injuries.
