The Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly in the process of giving goalie Petr Mrazek a big contract extension.
Even though some teams need a goalie, it seems like not many want Mrazek, according to Mark Lazarus, Blackhawks reporter for The Athletic.
Instead of trading him for a poor return, the Blackhawks are reportedly keeping him in the organization long-term as Arvid Soderblom has not showed promise.
Mrazek has been doing well, with a .903 save percentage in 25 games this season, which is pretty good for a team that's not doing great in the standings.
Right now, he's making $3.8 million, but any new deal would probably be different. Keeping Mrazek for a bit longer could also help Drew Commesso develop more with AHL Rockford, their future star netminder.
So, the Blackhawks are weighing their options, thinking about a new deal for Mrazek to figure out their goalie situation for now and the future.
