The Chicago Blackhawks have been linked to 24-year-old forward, Joel Farabee of the Philadelphia Flyers. Can GM Kyle Davidson pry him from the Orange and Black?

Last season Joel Farabee scored a career-high 50 points ( 22 G, 28 A) in 2023-2024, despite being in and out of John Tortorella's doghouse. This season has been no different.

The Flyers and Farabee relationship could be damaged, as he's been scratched three consecutive times this season. A good excuse for either party to seek or request a trade.

News regarding Farabee continues to trickle through the wire, as it always does and NHL Insider Frank Seravalli has mentioned him on his trade board.

Could a trade be coming by the March 7th deadline? He was listed as the No. 6 target on Frank Seravalli's Trade Board this month.

Where could this 50-point forward land next?

Chicago Blackhawks Linked to Joel Farabee

GM Kyle Davidson will look to improve the Blackhawks by adding top-six wingers, and Farabee as a 50-point scorer could be the solution.

While he's played in the bottom six this season for the Flyers, he's still a reliable goal-scoring forward who can skate well and has great hands.

Contract

For Farabee to be traded he'll have to land somewhere, that can shoulder his cap space which is currently at $5 million AAV.

Looking at PuckPedia, the Blackhawks' cap space is $9.9 million, an easy addition for the team.

The Cost

While we've gotten this far, we've been discussing how valuable of an addition Farabee would be to the Blackhawks' top-six and power play. What would the cost for GM Kyle Davidson and the team look like?

They may need to rely on a package of picks and prospects to get this done. In any event, Farabee would fit with the Blackhawks' current timeline as they continue their rebuild in 2024-25.

The Blackhawks have plenty of prospects to trade and are stocked up on draft picks.

While GM Kyle Davidson didn't end up making any major trades during the 2024 season, we're certain GM Danny Briere won't shy away from asking for a good return for a former 1st-round pick, like Farabee.
