Shortly after the post went up, Blackhawks fans were quick to jump on Twitter and voice their displeasure and anger that they could not see the Blackhawks preseason game even though they were promised to do so. The game did not go in the Blackhawks favour as they lost 4-2. The goal scores for the Blackhawks were Craig Smith and Teuvo Teravainen.
This blackout does not line up with the NHL's standard view that fans within a certain distance of the stadium will not be allowed to see the games Ann would like them to go attend them at the arena itself while the rest of the country can enjoy watching the Blackhawks as they are unable to attend in person.
This certainly creates confusion and anger as people throughout the world are having a tough time these days trying to make ends meet. Many fans have resorted to watching their team on television as they are able to afford either the packages or just general broadcasts or even attending a bar to watch the game with their friends.
Many fans across the league in Canada and in the United States would love to see a more NFL style game ticket or package like Dazn that all teams could be seen no matter where you are located. Fans would pay a premium, but they would be able to see their favorite team play at anytime.
It remains to be seen on whether the NHL will continue this policy or resort back to the one that they've been using for years in which fans throughout the United States and Canada will be able to watch the Blackhawks at home.
