It's not often that you hear of rival teams making as gesture like Pat Maroon, and the Blackhawks did.

Pat Maroon has ties to the St. Louis area, he was born in the area and won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019.
He used his connections with the Blackhawks to make a heartfelt gesture to a family who had lost their son after being tragically hit by a stray bullet.
Their son, Colin, aged 16 was a hockey player from the St. Louis, MO area and played for the Affton Americans.
The Blackhawks were in town for a game last Thursday, and Pat Maroon(an Affton native) invited the family to the locker room.
He'd gift them a "Colin Strong" jersey, to honor the memory of the fallen hockey player who played for the Americans, in the CBC league.
"We know Colin is looking down on us tonight. On behalf of the Blackhawks, my teammates, we got a special jersey for him to keep his legacy and spirit going," he said before handing over a Blackhawks jersey with Brown's name, his 72 number and the players' signatures on it.

Colin's younger brother Liam also got to pump up the team by reading the lineup before the game.

"I used to tell Colin before every game, one thing I always said, you go out there, you let them know you're there," Calvin Brown said. "Play hard, fast and smart."

Brown's life tragically ended on the way home on I-55 after he was returning home from a hockey game.
a stray bullet would strike him, and his life would be stolen from his family and friends forever.
His team would keep his memory alive by winning the CBC Championship and dedicating the victory to Colin.
What better way to do it than to play your heart out for your best friend and your teammate like the Affton Americans did?
Maroon may suit up for the rival Blackhawks, but his heart is still home in St. Louis, Missouri.
We send our deepest condolences to Calvin and the Brown family for the tragic loss of their dearest son, Colin.
