On the eve of Valentine's Day, friends, family, and lovers are sharing gifts, and messages that warm the heart.

However, today is a celebration for Mario Duqette, who is celebrating his best friend, brother, and teammate today, Tristan Perreault-Gagnon.

Tristan Perreault-Gagnon and Mario Duquette shared a bond through the sport of hockey. The two played for the Gatineau Flames a QJHL team in 2015-2016.
The two would play for multiple hockey clubs together and build a lifelong friendship.
They'd see each other through life events, girlfriends, and children all throughout their deep friendship.
In Mario's message, you'd see an outpouring of love that he shared for his brother.
My brother I love you yesterday you were still with us texting each other laughing.
Your departure hurts me. We made it into hockey clubs together, great friends evenings with the boys. You were blessed to see my 2 oldest just when you were about to take your life back into your hands. I remember how you thought you were going to make it out of misery. You left Brossard for Sherbrooke and found a nice job, became sober with a beautiful blonde who loved you. Last month you were telling me about your credit being excellent again, that you had money on the side, that you were quietly preparing to become a homeowner, that was your goal for 30 years.
I've always been there for you like you have been there for me got jobs even worked 3 times together at Ford's and my garage I've never been more ready for someone 😭
I am speechless that such a nice, good guy could leave us abruptly.
Hockey made us cross paths and became brothers today I wish I could have given you one last pass like in time😭
I love you 🤍💔
While the two are relatively unknown on the larger stage, the hockey community is always a small world.
Whether it be in America, or Quebec the love of the sport runs deep, and people build lifelong bonds.
Tomorrow will be Valentine's Day, and while it is right to show love and appreciation for those who are close to you, it's better to show it every day.
So when tragedy does strike, you can go throughout life knowing you've said what had to be said.
For now, one brother will mourn another in the hockey community.
