The Detroit Red Wings are working to trade their 15-year NHL veteran forward Vladimir Tarasenko at the NHL trade deadline or after this season.

According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman the Red Wings are willing to move him as they think another a change of scenery for the Russian-goal scoring forward would benefit both camps.
Through 53 games this season, Tarasenko has scored only 7 goals and 15 assists for the Red Wings.
The team signed him to provide scoring depth but it's clearly fallen short, as he is posting below-average numbers.
Playing in his first year of a two-year $9.5 million contract which features a trade-clause.
A change of scenery could bring Tarasenko's game back, while benefiting the Detroit Red Wings, freeing up a roster spot to call up one of their many prospects waiting to flourish at the NHL level who are currently with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL.

Toronto Maple Leafs interested in Tarasenko, per reports

The Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly interested in Tarasenko, but it makes them one of his potential trade destinations moving forward.
With the Leafs standing at second position in their division, they seek a boost before March 7's NHL trade deadline.
Toronto GM Brad Treliving explained his goal to acquire quality players who can contribute in different aspects, for the Leafs, acquiring Tarasenko who only has one year left on his expiring contract after this season is a low-risk high-reward scenario.
«You want good players, right? If there's one out there that fits, reliable on both sides of the puck, certainly somebody that can add offense, all those types of things,» Treliving said. «What you want and sometimes what's available are two different things.»

Treliving also stated that they're being careful about making trades.
«Certainly we'll continue to look to see what the marketplace, what's available there and then ultimately what the cost is and see if there's a fit,» Treliving said.

The two-time Stanley Cup Champion, in 2019 with the St. Louis Blues and in recent years 2024 with the Florida Panthers is officially on the move, continue to follow our stories for various updates throughout the NHL.
