Chicago Blackhawks Deliver Worrisome Injury Updates On Key Players

The Rockford IceHogs, who farm the future of the Blackhawks as they serve as Chicago's AHL farm-team organization, has announced injury updates for key players.

The Blackhawks organization and their players are spending their week away as time away from the ice, aside from Teuvo Teravainen who is representing Team Finland, and now a few other faces who are battling injuries over relaxing on their time off.

A tough 3-1 loss before heading into the NHL break was endured by the IceHogs against the Milwaukee Admirals by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

On Thursday, a handful of injury announcements were made and it involves key players.

But there is a positive update, Gerry Mayhew, one of the IceHogs' leading scorers is going to return as he has been cleared to play, who was out long-term with a left hip adductor strain.

Oddly enough, Colton Dach has suffered a left hip flexor strain.

Dach has been a top end prospect for the Blackhawks organization and has already earned himself an NHL call up this season as the IceHogs' third-leading scorer.

Goaltender Drew Commesso, their regular starter in goal is out for a minimum of two weeks with a right ankle sprain, similar to Jason Dickinson's injury with the Blackhawks.

It's certainly a hit for the Blackhawks with this news, as certain injuries like Dach and Commesso's can sometimes be tweaked later on in their careers.

At age 22 for both Dach and Commesso, it is crucial that they take proper precautions to fully recover to ensure no future injuries occur from lingering ones like so.

Rockford's next game is going to be at BMO Center on Friday night against the Chicago Wolves.
