The cut sent six Blackhawks prospects to the Rockford IceHogs, in order for them to get some more experience in the AHL.
Of those sent were:
It appears that these prospects weren't able to crack the lineup with the newest veterans arrivals, as the competition was tough Taylor Hall, Teuvo Teraveinen, Craig Smith, and Tyler Bertuzzi were some of the players, forwards like Samuel Savoie, Landon Slaggert, and Cole Guttman would have to beat for a spot.
This isn't a bad thing, as these young players will continue to get the experience needed to be winners in the future, as the Rockford IceHogs have proven to be a great developmental team.
Ethan Del Mastro should consider the experience that made Alex Vlasic a top-pairing defenseman last season with Seth Jones.
While it seemed that Colton Dach or Cole Guttman were bound to make the team, it looks as if they may need more season, or wait for an injury to happen for a chance to make the lineup for longer than a few games.
That's not to say they don't deserve a look, but the youth movement is now challenged to do better.
The prospects will join the IceHogs in time for training camp in the AHL on Monda.
Luke Richardson and Kyle Davidson saw fit to send these 6 packing to the AHL for a reason.
Maybe they can prove them wrong in the future, and we hope so too.
