The Chicago Blackhawks will be keeping an eye on the waiver wire as several NHL teams have placed many players on waivers as they continue to pare down their training camp rosters.
Like all good general managers, Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson will be looking for players who could help their depth whether it's with the Rockford Icehogs or potentially on the roster of the Blackhawks themselves.
It was reported yesterday that all NHL teams that placed their players on waivers had cleared to go to their respective American Hockey League teams. Today several teams including the Calgary Flames, Colorado Avalanche Nashville Predators the Seattle Kraken and the Vegas golden Knights have many players available to choose from.
Most of these players are not household names but certainly could hold some value. Even full roster, the Blackhawks still have cap space for $6.67 million which could be used to upgrade the roster depending on how the team does in the standings.
It's been mentioned by Davidson over the past couple of weeks that he would like to see his team move the needle and become a team that's involved in the playoff conversation. The Blackhawks appear to be ready to improve their team dramatically and begin their course of becoming a playoff contender once again.
Organizational depth is always a key to any hockey team as injuries do occur and veteran leadership is hard to find. Perhaps one of these players could be on their way to Chicago if it makes sense for the organization especially if you can find that one player who can be a gem that stands out from the remainder and all it costs you is money.
Their next preseason game will take place on the road as the Blackhawks will take on the St Louis Blues. Game time will be at 7:00 PM eastern.
