The Boston Bruins have made a major signing, in light of the team's anemic offensive production.

The forward who will hopefully help stabilize the Bruins lineup is a former Blackhawk, Tyler Johnson

Johnson has signed a one-year deal with the Bruins for $775K, and will hopefully have a chance to slot into the Bruins top-nine.

The former Blackhawks forward started his career in the NHL as a free agent with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

He'd win two Stanley Cups with the Lightning and would be traded to the Blackhawks in exchange for the contract for Brent Seabrook.

On July 27, 2021, Johnson was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, along with a second-round pick in 2023, in exchange for the contract of Brent Seabrook.

At the end of the 2023-2024 season, he said he'd be testing free agency as he wanted to sign with a Stanley Cup contender and get back to playing meaningful hockey.

"I'd like to play some meaningful hockey and get back in the playoffs...That's where it's (playoffs) all at," Johnson added. "That's where I've always loved. I've always just wanted to be a part of that, and when you're not, especially the last few years here doing what we're doing, it's been pretty tough."

Johnson spent 3 seasons in Chicago, playing 149 games for the original-six franchise.

He scored 70 points( 32 G, 38 A) with a -64, 54 PIMS, and 12 power-play goals.

Until recently the Boston Bruins have had trouble generating offense from other than the bottom six, like Justin Brazeau, Mark Kastelic, and John Beecher.

With hope Johnson can turn the Bruins' fortunes around, as Sweeney has taken another shot on an affordable option, while they inch ever closer to the salary cap.
