Breaking: An Official Had To Leave The Ice After this incident
For today's Chicago Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators game, there were originally two officials on ice.
A shot by Boris Katchouk unexpectedly struck one of the referees, causing an unfortunate incident.
A shot fired by Katchouk hit Furman South, hoping to catch the goalie off guard and hopefully catch the net or post for a goal.
The shot was quite risky, but Katchouk's accuracy was not as great as he had hoped, and he hit #13 South in the face as a result.
Thus, Furman South had to be escorted off the ice, leaving one NHL referee to oversee the match.
South has been injured twice this season, he was also injured in a faceoff between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Dallas Stars in November of 2023.
This is tough luck for the referee, and we wish him well.
