It was announced that fans can enjoy a free fan festival which will feature activities, food, giveaways and an opportunity to see the Stanley Cup prior to the Winter Classic.
This will be a perfect lead up two the hockey game as it will give fans an opportunity to spend their entire day surrounded by the sport of hockey.
This year's Winter Classic will look far different than last time when the Blackhawks played in Wrigley Field back in 2009.
This season, the Blackhawks are currently going through a major rebuild and are not the dominant team they were in the 2010's.
Led by Connor Bedard, the Blackhawks have done some significant changes to their roster and to their coaching staff over the past couple of weeks.
After we're leaving Luke Richardson's duties and hiring Anders Sorensen as new rookie head coach, the team has gone ahead and called up several younger players from their American Hockey League affiliate.
General manager Kyle Davidson will likely be a busy man the Blackhawks in the rest of the NHL approached the March trade deadline.
As the Blackhawks have been going through their rebuilding phase, they have put up several of their veteran players for sale who have gone to contenders in exchange for prospects or draft picks which the Blackhawks have an abundance of.
There's a strong bounce ability that Davidson can do something larger this year as the Blackhawks have significant draft capital, cap space and the desire to improve dramatically as they want to climb out from the basement of the standings.
Time will tell but it's likely more significant changes on the horizon. In the meantime, the winter classic will go on December 31st and the free festival will take place in a parking lot at 1126 W Grace St. And will begin at 10:30 AM central time until 3:30 PM.
