It's become common around Chicago Blackhawks prospect Sasha Boisvert for being compared to former superstar Jonathan Toews. There are striking similarities between the two players as Boisvert is 18 years old and was selected 18th overall in the 2024 entry draft.

The Blackhawks acquired him in the 2024 NHL entry draft.

His size where he stands at six foot 2 and 176 lbs plays a great 200 foot game which is strikingly similar to Toews.

Boisvert was asked about the comparison, and he felt comfortable that this was happening.

"I think you've got to take it. Maybe learn from his game too," Boisvert said of the comparison. "You learn from a lot of people's games and just try to bring to your game from their game and try to get better with that."

Currently playing for the University of North Dakota in the NCAA, eliteprospects.com has pegged him as a goal scorer who has a deceptive reshot heavy powerful one timer along with a great ability to pass the puck.

In 2023-2024 he played for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL where he had 61 games, scored 36 goals with 32 assists for 68 points and had 86 penalty minutes with a + 5.

In his freshman year with North Dakota, he has played 19 games and has scored equals with 9 assists for 17 points and has 10 penalty minutes.

Blackhawks director of amateur scouting Mike Doneghey Gave a great review on what he brings to the table and compared him to other players including Kyle Connor of the Winnipeg Jets and Brock Boeser of the Vancouver Canucks.

"He boxes in the summer. His father owns a gym. He plays on the edge, but he also had 36 goals in that league. If you look back at [Winnipeg Jets forward] Kyle Connor and [Vancouver Canucks forward] Brock Boeser and those guys, those are similar numbers to what he had. He's got size down the middle, he can skate, he's good on face-offs and he's another fantastic kid."

It's expected that he will remain with North Dakota for at least another year as he continues to mature and develop his game. The Blackhawks are in no hurry to push him along sooner than needed as they have several other prospects that are ahead of him in the pecking order.

"There [are] a lot of areas I want to improve on," he said. "Next year is a big step to college and then I really want to improve my skating, just to get lower and more flexible, and see myself get more mature and stronger in general."
