MacNevin will head to Rockford, Illinois to serve as assistant coach in the AHL with the Rockford IceHogs.

"We're excited to have Josh join our coaching staff and for his family to be part of our organization," said IceHogs Head Coach Anders Sorensen. "We look forward to having Josh work with our defensemen and help them take the next steps in their professional careers."

Prior to joining the IceHogs, MacNevin, 47, served as an assistant coach with the WHL's Kelowna Rockets, and with the Lethbridge Hurricanes. MacNevin also served as an assistant with the University of Lethbridge Pronghorn in 2013-2014.

MacNevin is not a stranger to the ice, as he played four years with Providence College as a defenseman. He scored 86 points(20 G, 66 A) and 163 PIMs in 137 games.

He was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in 1996 in the fourth round, 101st overall. He'd play three seasons in North America and then ship off to Europe. He would play 558 games split between leagues with teams in six countries, and nine leagues.

These included the AHL, EHL, WCHL, Serie A(Italian), DEL(German), SHL, HockeyAllsvenskan(2nd Swedish League), and Liiga.

In 2003-2004 he led Serie A in scoring by a defenseman, and in 2009-2010, he led HockeyAllsvenskan in the same category.
