Ovechkin reveals his favorite team aside from Washington: trade incoming?
During a recent interview to his friend and Blogger Amiran Sadarnov, Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin revealed his favorite teams outside of Washington.
He mentioned two teams during the interview one happened to be the Tampa Bay Lightning as he has had much success against them during his entire career. He likes their style of hockey as it's an up-tempo offensive style.
The team also boasts two of the most prolific Russian players in the league who are superstar Nikita Kucherov and goaltender Andre Vasilevskiy.
«I like Tampa they play combination hockey,» Ovechkin said per a transcription by sports.ru and a translation by Google Translate. «Everyone plays a pass, it's nice to watch.»
The other team mentioned is a Western Conference team who are the Edmonton Oilers. Ovechkin does not play against the Oilers often as the team only faces off against them twice a year.
«I like Edmonton,» Ovechkin said. «But again it all depends on the players.»
Ovechkin will be in the mainstream news this season as he continues to seek out end clinch the all time goal scoring record that is still held by Oilers legend Wayne Gretzky.
It remains to be seen on how he will achieve this as his team has taken many steps back as they are a shadow of their former selves and it will be ovechkin himself who will have to take the team on his back in order to clinch this record.
