During the game between the wild and the Blackhawks, Dach had the puck and was heading towards their goaltender as he was trying to make a play when Minnesota Wild prospect Jordan Tourginy took exception to Dach crashing into the net.
Both men were grappling when Tourginy wrestled him to the ice. This kind of play along with the physicality and toughness he is starting to show is exactly what the Blackhawks coaching staff was relaying to him last year.
According to eliteprospects.com, the 21-year-old forward who stands at six foot four at 196 lbs was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2021. This second rounder who was chosen 62nd overall is viewed as one of the better shooters in that draft and has the physical strength and size to be able to hold on to the puck as he breaks out of the zone. He is the brother of former Blackhawks forward Kirby Dach.
Last season he played for the Rockford Icehogs where he played 48 games, scoring 11 goals with 16 assists for 27 points along with 39 penalty minutes and was a + 6.
With training camp in full swing, it remains to be seen on how he will fare as a prospect and whether he can make the team this year as there are many players and prospects trying to do the same. The Blackhawks are overflowing with prospects as the team continues its rebuilding phase and it's clear the competition will be stiff, and he will need to stand out and get noticed.
