The Chicago Blackhawks have reassigned defenseman Isaak Phillips to the Isaak Phillips to the Rockford IceHogs.

With the return of Alec Martinez, the lineup should return to status quo which could spell great things for the Blackhawks.

Martinez played 4 games for the Blackhawks this season before his injury which has kept him sidelined since October 15th, 2024.

Martinez was recently seen skating at Blackhawks practice Saturday which gave us an idea of when he could potentially return to the lineup.

Now we have an answer, as the Blackhawks have changed up the blueline once more.

Martinez posted one assist in four games to begin the season before going on injured reserve with a right groin issue. Head coach Luke Richardson was hopeful Martinez would return in late October, but that plan never materialized.

Isaak Phillips will return to Rockford and continue to get more minutes, compared to being sat while Nolan Allan plays.

Phillips only suited up for 3 games for the Hawks this season and scored 1 goal, but should serve as a regular call-up while developing in the AHL.

After last night's game against the Minnesota Wild, it looks as if he could be lifted from injured reserve status prior to Thursday.

The November 14h game will be against the Seattle Kraken.

Martinez signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks with a $4 Million AAV and is here to add veteran presence, which was missing.

The team's aims are to be more competitive, and with Martinez in the lineup as a three-time Stanley Cup champion should serve as a useful mentor on the ice, for players like Nolan Allan, and Wyatt Kaiser.
