Connor Bedard receives backlash from fans after being benched by coach
Connor Bedard benched by Team Canada and it sparks controversy
Connor Bedard saw little to no ice time in Team Canada's recent game at the IIHF World Championship tournament, playing over just 8 minutes and never saw the ice once in overtime.
Steven Ellis, a well-known hockey reporter shared the following:
"Not totally sure what's going on with Connor Bedard, who played just 8:08 today and nothing in OT. Just 10 shifts."
Said Ellis.
Fans began revealing why Bedard was benched, and it now makes more sense:
"disciplinary measures for the bad Ozone penalty probably?"
"During one shift, he didn't care to backcheck and went to the bench slowly... not interested,"
"He's not good enough in a men's tournament as an 18-year-old? Big ice and all that."
"He's been terrible. Trying to do too much. Results in turnovers constantly. He is fixated on finding a good shot that he's gotten tunnel vision and isn't even seeing his wide open teammates."
With being disciplined by his head coach, hopefully Connor Bedard can earn his trust back and gain more ice time moving forward in this tournament.
