With the help of Tyler Bertuzzi, the Hawks inched across the finish line, with an extra wind. It gave the team some life, and the ability to make up lost time in the first 60 minutes.
Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to strike in overtime, despite their best efforts, and this would lead to a shoot-out.
In round 1 of the shoot-out, Connor Bedard would even the odds and give the Blackhawks an extra push.
Like you'd expect out of your superstar forward, right?
You can see the slick hands of Bedard, as he'd slow down and try and fake out Darcy Kuemper.
And it'd work great, as Kuemper wasn't able to track the puck as he should've, and would give up a goal in round 1 of the shootout.
The silky-smooth goal was one of three, which would be followed up by Teuvo Teravainen, and Ryan Donato who would follow up with goals of their own against Kuemper.
The super-hot Kings rookie Alex Laferriere wouldn't be able to follow his two-goal performance with a goal in the shoot-out. This is surprising, as Laferriere played with purpose, poise, and tenacity missing in the Hawks game tonight.
But that critique doesn't include Nick Foligno, Tyler Bertuzzi or Ryan Donato who played in an electrifying manner.
Bedard needs to keep watching how Donato and Foligno play a full 60 minutes and follow their lead.
There's a reason why Ryan Donato is on the first line now!
That being said, we all love a Bedsy goal, and this is one highlight-reel goal that we'll remember for decades.
