Connor Bedard's rookie season with the Chicago Blackhawks has been nothing short of remarkable. As the first overall pick in the 2023 draft, Bedard entered the league with tons of hype, and he has lived up to every bit of it at just 18 years old.
However, despite his individual success, Bedard harbors mixed feelings about his debut season.
A broken jaw injury, sustained from a hit by Brendan Smith of the New Jersey Devils, sidelined Bedard for a significant portion of the season. Despite this setback, Bedard managed to set several records during his time on the ice, as well as still finished the year leading all rookies in points. However, the Blackhawks' overall performance was less than stellar, finishing 8th in the Central Division with a record of 23-53-5.
Reflecting on his rookie season, Bedard expressed lots of room for improvement.
Despite his individual achievements, Bedard remains focused on team success and acknowledges that there is still work to be done.
