Elliotte Friedman Reveals Report on The New Head Coach of The Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks are in a unique position, where they could end up hiring a winning coach, during the offseason if they look to Denver University's David Carle.
The Chicago Blackhawks gambit on Interim Coach Anders Sorensen may not pay off. The team is already make the waves as they have stated they're looking for an coach with NHL experience.
But, they could be in the position by April to hire a Coach who has won two back-to-back World Junior Championships in Denver Universities, David Carle.
The Blackhawks are 13-25-2, and could use someone like Carle who is experienced winning on a big stage, like the IIHF World Juniors and could help develop their young core into a Stanley Cup winning weapon.
The poor start and lack of goal scoring led to the firing of Luke Richardson, but interim head coach Anders Sorensen hasn't exactly changed the direction of the Blackhawks since taking over. While it is tough to take over a team mid-season and usually there's a new coach bump, that has worn off fairly quickly.
Friedman notes that the Blackhawks are in a unique position where they can strike now and sign him and see him come in April after the season at Denver. Carle is a winner and "people love winners," the insider said. He also said that we are "in an age where teams are really searching for coaches who can identify with and reach young players."
Under Sorensen we've seen improvement, but not enough to see the team's record make a dramatic change.
Sorensen's helped give Bedard his confidence back, and find the team's offense again, but it's still not good enough as the defense hasn't been there.
As a former player whose career got cut short before the NHL, he'll have the respect in that regard by any current player. He has also been around the game all of his life. Friedman said, "the NHL players watch this tournament (World Juniors). They know who can coach. They know who can't coach. They're going to look at this guy and they're going to say this guy can coach."
Not to mention the team's dismal -35 goal differential in the NHL.
If GM Kyle Davidson can pry David Carle from the clutches of the Pioneers, this could be the next step in the puzzle of turning the Blackhawks into a dynasty once more.
Carle's totals with the Pioneers are as follows: 148-62-16 and he has a .690 winning percentage in addition to two Golds at the IIHF WJC.
