ESPN disrespects Blackhawks three-time Stanley Cup champion
Earlier in July, ESPN released a list of the top 100 athletes of the 21st century and it appears that former Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews did not make the cut.
Bleacher Nation Blackhawks posted a tweet regarding the glaring omission of the former Blackhawks captain and wrote a scathing report on how he could have been missed when he has accomplished so much during his Blackhawks career.
Two Blackhawks made the list which included Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith, Both who are on the same Stanley Cup teams as Toews.
He was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2006, in the first round third overall. He led a storied career and was a fan favorite who played 1067 games, scoring 372 goals with 511 assists for 883 points. He had won 3 Stanley cups during his time with the Blackhawks, a Conn Smythe in 2010 and two gold medals for Canada.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Blackhawks chose to move on from Toews informing him that they were not resigning him to a new deal. He has taken a step back from the game due to injuries involving COVID-19 and has yet to announce his retirement.
Suffice to say that Toews should have been on this list.
