In his exit speech in April, former Chicago Blackhawks forward Tyler Johnson said he wanted to go to a playoff contender. Well, that is biting him right now, as we're three weeks into free agency, and he is still unsigned. This off-season has not treated him nicely.

The 33-year-old forward was traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021. The trade included the LTIR contract of Brent Seabrook being dumped onto the Lightning, and the Blackhawks got the remaining three years of Johnson's $5 million AAV contract. Johnson, of course, played out his final three years in Chicago.

However, Johnson talked a big game about wanting to go to a contender. And you can't blame him. He went from winning two cups in a row with the Lightning to going to a bottom feeder in Chicago. He just wants to feel that winning sense again.

Johnson hasn't really impressed enough, though, as he had 31 points in 66 games this year.

He just hasn't been consistent, and now finds himself to be fighting for a spot on most of the teams at the current moment.
