Former Blackhawks Stanley Cup champ retires to and becomes an assistant coach
News surfaced that former Blackhawks Andrew Desjardins has retired from the game of hockey at 37 years old and will become a new assistant coach with the Sudbury wolves of the OHL.
He spent three years of his career with the Blackhawks and in 2015 he won the Stanley Cup. Known as a bottom 6 forward, penalty killer and depth forward, Desjardins loved his time in Chicago.
Now he will switch over to a new role as assistant coach with the Wolves as many players tend to do after they retire.
He also spent several years with the San Jose Sharks to which he played 408 games in the NHL, scoring 23 goals, 41 assists for 64 points with 301 penalty minutes.
We wish him all the best in his new role.
