The Dallas Stars beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-2.

Three Unanswered - The Dallas Stars scored three goals unanswered across the first two periods. The goals came from Evegeni Dadonov, Matt Duchene, and Jamie Benn. This slow start really sent Chicago in a downward spiral and set the mood until the third period.

The Third Period - The last period is when things kicked up for the Blackhawks, as they cut the deficit from 3-0 to 3-2. The first goal was really scrappy as there was a battle in the net front with Jake Oettinger on his stomach. The puck was eventually jabbed in and the goal was awarded to Ryan Donato, who's been having a good season when Richardson doesn't scratch him for no reason. Connor Bedard then had a nasty snipe, but an empty net goal by the Stars sealed the deal late in the third.

Connor Bedard - Bedard had a nasty goal tonight, having scored a goal in each game of the doubleheader. Pat Maroon had the puck near the left board in the defensive zone. Maroon turned and sent a beautiful cross-ice pass up past the center line to Connor. Bedard was racing up the right wing and was one-on-one with a defender. He then looked up and sent a ripper past the glove of Oettinger, top shelf, and beat him clean. Bedard is now a PPG player, with nine points in nine games.

The Power Play - The power play couldn't get going all night long. It went 0/3 on the night, and if you want to count this as well, they couldn't score on the empty net at the end of the game. But with all that, three power plays and an empty net, they still only had 24 shots on goal, and the Stars had 30. Special teams might've been the reason the Hawks lost last night, especially because of how close the game was. They have to get it figured out.

Spectacular Save - Petr Mrazek is in the books for an early save of the year candidate, and most definitely save of the year for the Blackhawks season. The puck was centered to Jamie Benn, who was open right in front of the crease in the slot. Benn shot it, but Mrazek made a beautiful save with the right pad. But, it set up a rebound chance, and yet again, no one was there or in position to really stop it. So, the puck trickled to Wyatt Johnston, and it was right there for the pickings. Johnston shot it, aiming top shelf, but Mrazek stuck his paddle up and made another save.
