It was Bedard's first 5-point game in the NHL and he made history by doing so.
Bedard became only the second 18-year-old in NHL history to record eight points in two games.
Former Blackhawks winger Jeremy Roenick was on air extolling Connor Bedard after the win over Anaheim.
Jeremy Roenick: "Connor Bedard is in a zone right now. The kid's going to win Rookie of the Year, without question, in my mind." #Blackhawks pic.twitter.com/4Bk0LTeO9p Charlie Roumeliotis (@CRoumeliotis) March 13, 2024
As soon as Bedard's fourth point was tallied, Roenick boldly predicted that Bedard would win ROTY.
Bedard is the clear favorite to win the Calder Trophy and remains the frontrunner.
As of right now, he leads all rookies with 51 points (20 goals and 31 assists), while he sits second with 31 assists.
Brock Faber and Marco Rossi are thought to be runners-up, but it appears Bedard has put enough distance between himself and the two Minnesota Wild players to win.
Despite missing a month, Bedard scored nearly a point per game in 52 games this season.
Even though he is on one of the worst teams in the NHL, Bedard is Chicago's bright spot.
