It was a dreadful loss, which saw the team lose 5-2 to the "Hockey Club", as they couldn't overcome the 1-goal deficit in the late 2nd and failed to capitalize upon a 6-man advantage with the empty net late in the 3rd.
This led to the Hockey Club clenching the vice on the Blackhawks as they scored 2 more goals in the 3rd.
Dylan Guenther would score his second goal of the night on an empty net, after Peter Mrazek was pulled, and Lawson Crouse would follow it up with a goal, with an assist by NHL veteran defenseman Ian Cole.
Nick Foligno would address the situation, and while he said he was proud of the team's response it wasn't enough to win the game.
He felt that the team started badly against the Hockey Club which saw Clayton Keller and Dylan Guenther bury two goals on Petr Mrazek early.
The weaknesses are glaring from our perspective, and Foligno sees it too calling out head coach Luke Richardson in this interview. He correctly pointed out how the team failed to get the results for a win.
It seems Richardson's system has some issues that need to be addressed.
It took up until the end of the 2nd period for the offense to find the firepower needed to drive to the goal and create pressure.
We don't need a repeat of the preseason, which saw the team post 1-4 in exhibition play.
If the 2024-2025 season begins with another slow start, it could spell doom for Luke Richardson.
Will he fare better than Jeremy Colliton
