Patrick Kane speaks on Blackhawks when discussing future with Detroit
Patrick Kane Talks About His Future with Red Wings Success
Patrick Kane, the former Chicago Blackhawks star, is doing well with the Detroit Red Wings despite having hip surgery.
Kane is playing like he used to, reminding fans of his great years in the early 2010s. Kane is almost scoring a point every game, and he's helping the Red Wings try to make it to the playoffs. But he knows he might become a free agent this summer, which is something he's thinking about.
While Kane knows his contract is on his mind, he's focused on helping the team now.
«Obviously, it's in the back of your mind, right now, it's more about being in the moment, being here with this team and trying to get in the playoffs. I think just with the situation I was in and coming in and being here for maybe three-quarters of the season, it's just this year and then we'll see what happens. Hopefully all that stuff figures itself out.»
Even though he used to play for the Blackhawks, Kane likes the Red Wings a lot.
«Nothing but positive things to say about the organization, the coaches and the team. Really happy with the decision to come here. Obviously, it's not easy deciding where you want to play, where you think you'd fit best. Been great being a Wing and just playing at the LCA, the way the fans have embraced me. You didn't really know with the Chicago-Detroit rivalry.»
Kane's not sure what will happen next, but he's excited to keep playing hockey and doing his best.
