Scary Situation As Blackhawks Rookie Boarded by Panthers Mackie Samoskevich
Louis Crevier was boarded by the Panthers Jonah Gadjovich during the first period which resulted in an injury.
Typically we never thought we'd see the punishing defenseman in a situation that left him vulnerable to Gadjovich's terrible "play".
Crevier was battling on the boards for the puck during the 1st period, and as he was attempting to gain possession from AJ Greer, Gadjovich came from behind.
While he didn't jump into the hit, he led with his elbow which resulted in Crevier's head being boarded.
The disgusting play is another example of NHL players failing to account for cause and effect on the ice.
Considering Crevier is just beginning his career in the NHL, this could result in a concussion which could affect his longevity in the league.
The Blackhawks are now without one of their best defensive-minded defenseman on the ice as a result of Gadjovich's careless actions.
Gadjovich was assessed a two-minute minor afterward, but it's difficult to see if George Parros and the Department of Player Safety will step in where they should.
The Blackhawks started the game hot, with a goal by
Landon Slaggert during the first seven seconds of the first period.
Now they're down by two goals, and out a rookie defenseman.
Last season, we saw a multitude of injuries affect the Blackhawks standing in the rankings.
It appears this year won't be much different.
